This is your golden rule. Agree with what’s offered and add something new to it. Validate the reality.
Really Listen (to Everything):
Pay attention not just to words, but body language, tone, and what’s not being said. Don’t just wait for your turn to talk.
Make Your Scene Partner Look Good:
Your job is to support their ideas and make them shine. Teamwork is the dream quirk.
Don’t Block:
Saying “no” or ignoring what someone offers kills the scene. Don’t deny the reality. Stick with rule #1.
Commit to Your Choices (Even the Weird Ones):
Once an idea is out there (yours or someone else’s), own it and go for it fully. Don’t hesitate.
Play the Scene You’re Actually In:
Don’t try to force the scene where you think it should go. Discover it together in the moment.
Aim for Truth, Not Just Laughs:
Trying too hard to be funny usually isn’t. Play honestly within the scene, and humor will naturally show up.
Mistakes are Just Unexpected Gifts:
There are no real mistakes, only new, unplanned offers. Roll with them and see where they take you.
Focus on the Relationship:
Scenes are about who the characters are to each other. That’s where the good stuff (and often the comedy) comes from.
